Welcome to Afterman Guitars

Afterman Guitars is a one-man operation in a humble workshop in Concord, NC.

As a guitarist or bassist, sometimes the standard configurations just don't have the mojo needed to unlock a player's potential to the fullest. Perhaps modifying your gear for a certain aesthetic and/or a certain functionality is the key to achieving YOUR sound.

At Afterman Guitars, the goal is to provide guitar and bass players with the foundation they need to customize their instrument and get the most from their playing.

You can order pickguards from eBay, or Amazon, or the manufacturers themselves, but only Afterman Guitars gives YOU the power to choose any material you'd like, any pickup configuration you want, and control layout you want.

Furthermore, Afterman Guitars provides an exceptional and highly collaborative customer experience.

5 Stars across the board over on Reverb, Afterman Guitars stressed the importance of communication, timeliness, and care.

  • Sterling CT50 Modified

A Sterling by Music Man CT50 HSS converted to SSS format with a Railbucker (neck), Strat (middle), and JB Jr (bridge).

  • Squier Custom Cabronita Baritone

Fitted with a black 3-ply pickguard and new soapbar humbucking pickups with dual volume pots, each coil-splittable to achieve classic single coil tones.

  • Sterling SR30 Modified

Neck pickup removed, control layout modified to only have 1 volume and a selector switch, and killswitch on upper horn. Repainted at Afterman Guitars.

  • Sterling SUB Series Ray 4

Outfitted with a classic black 3-ply pickguard and repainted in a hammered gold.

  • Afterman Guitars Apollo I Prototype

First full build. Pine body, maple neck, 3 way selector switch, 1 volume, 1 tone, and extended range humbuckers.

  • Sterling Silo HSH

Before (left) and after (right) of a black 3-ply for a fellow player and amazing customer. Always challenging and fun to make these.

  • Stringjoy

Though they are not a sponsor (please sponsor me) I highly suggest checking out Stringjoy strings. Especially with their string set builder tool to make your own custom gauge packs.

  • Quality Control

All pickguards are inspected by the resident shop Squish, who never lets a sub-par product anywhere near a shipping envelope. Beware of the Squish Kid.

  • The First Templates

Sterling by Music Man CT50 HSS (covered humbucker version), SR50-K Dustin Kensrue conversion pickguard, Ray 34 bass, and SR30.

  • Carbon Fiber Cabronita

Upon request, I can make pieces with carbon fiber board with a slight upcharge. If you can provide material, than standard cost applies instead.

  • SCT607B H

Inspired by the request of TEETH's Chris LeMasters, this pickguard for the LTD Steph Carpenter (Deftones) signature model features a single humbucker cut. You don't use the middle pickup anyways, admit it.

  • Stingray Tele?!

That's right! The Sterling SR30/SR50 models now come with an option to fit your favorite Tele pickup set!

  • Lefties are welcome!

It should be known, ANY model here can be cut to accommodate left-handed players. Just let me know ahead of time!

  • Customized Guitars

Keep checking in on the Guitars page, as I'll be posting plenty of modded instruments for sale.
